TR Ambassador Başçeri “We were in close cooperation with TRNC authorities”

The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri, whose term in office expired was received by Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar. Ali Murat Başçeri stated that he was in close contact with each of the officials in the TRNC during his tenure. Stating that a good example of solidarity was displayed, during his term, Başçeri extended his gratitude. For his part, Tatar emphasized that Başçeri, who will be departing from the island tomorrow, provided important services to the Turkish Cypriot people. Stating that Başçeri contributed to the construction of the Pandemic Hospital, the supply of Covid-19 vaccines, the preparation of economic and financial cooperation protocols and also to the re-opening of Maraş, (Varosha), Tatar thanked the Republic of Türkiye for its support. Tatar noted that this support helped them to enlighten the world on their new policy of sovereign equality and equal national status. Referring to his position as Prime Minister, Tatar said that the two-state policy in Cyprus was included in the government program adding that extensive ground work was carried out. Praising the outgoing ambassadors support for the foundation of an agreement on the basis of two states in Cyprus and the significant progress that followed, Tatar expressed his confidence that Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri will continue his contributions in explaining the Turkish Cypriot sides two-state policy to the world.
