PM Üstel "Price Ceiling Committee being established"

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel who referred to the purchasing power of citizens said that a ‘Price Ceiling’ committee will be established for "Fresh Vegetables and Fruits. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a written statement saying that excessive price increases and wrongdoing will be prevented. Stating that the government has taken new measures, Üstel said that a committee will be established to determine ceiling prices of fresh vegetables and fruits to prevent the price increase, to contribute to the formation of prices that will protect producers and consumers, and to determine the recommended vegetable price to reach accessible food. New decisions will be added in the period ahead, Üstel said. Üstel continued his speech as follows: “As of December 5, it has become obligatory for trade between Turkiye and the TRNC to be in TL currency. With the amendment made in the circular of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), it has become obligatory for TRNC exports to declare the export value in Turkish Lira on the customs declaration and collect the cost in Turkish Lira as of December 5th. This is an important step”, Üstel is cited as saying. “STOCKPILING AND MISCONDUCT WILL BE PREVENTED” “With the prepared amendment, the crime of stockpiling goods can be controlled; it was also aimed to clarify the definition of the work related to the crime. As a result of these; excessive price inspections will be carried out by the Ministry and/or the quality and price inspection officer authorized by the Ministry. SUPPORT TO THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY “Electricity support, which has an important place in the input costs in the livestock sector, has been increased from 10 kuruş to 70 kuruş”. “IF MEAT PRICES DO NOT GET BACK TO NORMAL, MEAT IMPORT WILL BE CONSIDERED” Pointing out that the recent increase in livestock prices and the unfair competition in this sector has caused serious problems; Üstel said that this situation has caused conflict within the sector. “Despite the good intentions of the relevant unions on this issue, unfortunately, price stability has not been achieved,” said Üstel. Within the framework of the calculation cost in the light of these developments, it was evaluated that the prices of livestock from the producers at 70 TL/Kg for sheep and 80 TL/Kg for cattle, and that butchers and markets contribute to the market by establishing retail prices. However, if no action is taken and taking into account local production costs, the issue of importing meat for market needs and price stability was discussed by the Soil Products Authority, Üstel said.
