Immigration Amnesty discussions start today

Interior Minister Ziya Öztürkler said that they were against illegal and irregular living in the country and that they will implement serious inspections on entrances to the country.

Referring to the Immigration Amnesty, Minister Öztürkler announced that discussions on the Draft Law on Immigration Amnesty will commence at the Legal and Political Affairs Committee as of today.

Öztürkler said that it was important to understand that the law, which will take its final shape at the committee, is prepared as a general amnesty and that it covers people here and from abroad.

Those who have been deported from the country for committing a crime will not benefit from the Immigration Amnesty, Öztürkler said.

Interior Minister Öztürkler said that discussions on the Immigration Amnesty will begin at the General Assembly after the committee process and expressed his expectations that the law will be passed by the Assembly in October.
