Ataoğlu “We aim to attract more than 2 million tourists this year”

Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu said that they target more than 2 million tourists to the country in 2023. Ataoğlu, who participated in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Fair held in Berlin, spoke to AA news. Ataoğlu stated that the hotels in North Cyprus can compete with hotels in the world and that they aim to enrich alternative tourism models in the country. With the opening of the new airport terminal in a few months, they aim to increase the number of tourists, Ataoğlu said and explained that recently, advertisements have been prepared in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism to promote North Cyprus via various channels in Germany, Russia, the UK and Türkiye. Pointing out that tourists visiting North Cyprus were also purchasing property, Ataoğlu said, “Tourism is currently sustainable in our country.” North Cyprus is a place that is little affected by the negativities experienced in the world and other countries, Minister Ataoğlu said.
